Firefly 2015

Open-air artist showcase | Historic brick streets of Olde Towne Clinton | Live Music

Firstly, a brief recap of the events of June 13:

Everyone was super duper geared up for the festival as originally planned in mid-June. Food vendors were all set, and the bands had arrived and began to loiter around Jefferson Street.

FULL BAND show tonight in Clinton, MS. Really stoked about playing with my crew at the Firefly Music Festival.

Then a really bad thing happened.

Today was one of those yucky days when we were forced to make the hard calls. We were so excited about our Firefly...

and then everyone was sad ..

Happily it has been scheduled for Saturday August 29

Now that we're up to date, what can you expect from the Firefly Festival?

The Firefly Festival is an Olde Towne Market, much like Spring Into Green Market and Make Mine Vintage Market. It is brought to us by Main Street Clinton. As a kid-friendly event with a broad appeal, this is a great opportunity to have a fantastic time without stepping foot outside of Clinton.

Though it was unfortunate the original date was rained out, the new schedule coincides with welcome week; So the Mississippi College community can join in the festivities. The heavy emphasis on music sets this event apart from typical Olde Towne Markets.

This year, our Promotions Committee decided to try some more changes to make it very different from our Saturday morning markets. They decided to put more emphasis on a music and fine art event. So this year is our first one with the new twist.

You could also swing by Brick Street Pops for a cold Cream Soda

3 bands will keep the festival energized. Chandler Dunaway & Lindsey Polk kick off the entertainment at 6pm, followed by THE DLX at 7:15. Headlining the event will be Oh Jeremiah.

Both bands were featured on this site recently. You can find out more about these talented performers below.

On a personal note, I am looking forward to spending some quality time with my family at the festival. For me, it's very much needed at this time of year. In addition, my friend J.B. Lawrence, photographer extraordinaire, will be there to capture the artist performances in soul-burning detail. It's always a blast getting to shoot events with J.B. You'll see us running around with our cameras all night I'm sure.

Thanks so much to the bands for taking time out to speak with us, and Thank you to Main Street staff -Tara Lytal and Anna Boyd for getting us up to speed on the details of the festival.

Also much thanks to The Hetrick Team of RE/MAX Alliance and Paxton Peak who have sponsored the Firefly Festival
